Health care
At William Rose School, an Individualised Health Support Plans must be developed for any student who:
- requires medication to be administered at school
- has a gastronomy feeding / medication tube.
- is diagnosed with a medical condition (such as epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, anaphylaxis) requiring health care procedures to be delivered at school.
- requires hygiene procedures to be delivered at school (this could include using a hoist to transfer from a wheelchair to toilet / change table).
Individualised Health Support Plans are displayed in classrooms and are developed in consultation with parents/carers with information provided by doctors, allied health professionals and authorised health professional advice.
Medication is administered by staff with appropriate training. All staff are trained in anaphylaxis, CPR, Asthma and Emergency Care. School Learning Support Officers undertake Health Support in Schools professional development to support students with complex needs.
